After months of construction 55 South will open its third location in Spring Hill tomorrow. The restaurant shares a patio with Martin’s BBQ Joint and the Salty Goat.
This is the third location for 55 South, which got its start in downtown Franklin. Owner Jason McConnell opened the second location in Brentwood last summer. McConnell also came up with the concept for the Salty Goat, which will serve tacos, tortas and margaritas.
Martin’s BBQ Joint will open next week. Director of operations Sharon Davis said McConnell is friends with Pat Martin, the owner of Martin’s BBQ, and that they were excited to open their restaurants in adjacent spaces.
The patio won’t be open initially, but should be available soon. Patrons at any of the three restaurants will be able to eat their food on the patio. The restaurants plan to use glassware with company logos to keep track of where people got their drinks, which should allow people to move freely between the restaurants and the patio.
Davis said 55 South held a soft opening over the weekend for investors, vendors and other people involved with the restaurant. The soft opening filled the restaurant and Davis said it went off without a hitch. Now, they’re ready to serve the general public.
The restaurant won’t have a brunch menu initially, but plans to offer that later. It will include a build-your-own Bloody Mary bar and two-for-one mimosas.
“We want to make sure everything is rock solid and then roll that out,” Davis said.
The menu for 55 South in Spring Hill will be the same as the location in Brentwood. It features raw or grilled oysters, as well as fried oyster nachos. Customers can also order seafood gumbo or a po’ boy with shrimp and fish.
