Molly Sharpe, daughter of Jerry and Renee Sharp, is a junior at Nolensville High School and a member of the Nolensville varsity cheer team.
One of her proudest moments on the team was when her team won first place at UCA camp last summer at the University of Alabama. Her team won first place overall, in sidelines and in the cheer division. They also took home the tradition award. She said, “it was an amazing experience.”
Sharpe became interested in cheerleading after years of playing soccer. She said that she “wanted to branch out and try something different.” Cheer was the perfect choice for her. She said as soon as she began cheering, she fell in love with it and has been doing it ever since.
One of her favorite parts of cheering is getting the crowd pumped up on game day.
“To look up at everyone while I’m cheering and to see everyone happy and excited makes me inspired to do the best I can do.”
Another inspiration and driving force in Sharpe’s life is one of her teachers, Ms. Weatherford. Her positive, Christ-like attitude inspires Sharpe and makes her feel supported.
Mrs. Derrick, cheer coach at Nolensville said, “Molly Sharpe is a true example of being an Ambassador of the school, promotes school spirit, enhance crowd involvement and positively represents Nolensville High School both as a leader and as an athlete. She is always positive and happy; someone a coach can always count on.”
Although Sharpe does not know what college she would like to attend just yet, she hopes to pursue a career in travel photography.
