Ethan Eisenhauer, son of Missy and Darren Eisenhauer, is a sophomore at Ravenwood High School and this week’s Kerr & Co. Realty Athlete of the Week.
He is a member of the Varsity Boys Tennis Team and competes in 2nd seed singles and 1st seed doubles. So far this season, Eisenhauer is undefeated in singles and doubles.
He got his start in the sport after encouragement from a friend who wanted Eisenhauer to join him in a tennis clinic. After that, he said, he fell in love with the game.
When asked what inspires him to continue training and competing he said, “I just love to play the sport and I want to become the best player I can be.”
RHS Tennis Coach Chris Bates said of Eisenhauer, “Ethan plays one of the more important spots in the lineup at number two singles. With most teams having a ‘superstar’ at number one, winning number two is crucial. Ethan, with his toughest match against Nolensville, showed no signs of losing. He solidified his win in the tiebreaker and continues his undefeated season.”
One of his biggest role models is professional tennis player Roger Federer. “His skill at tennis is beyond any other player,” he said. “… he represents an older style of the game, which is dying, that I love.”
Eisenhauer describes himself as a hard worker with a calm disposition. Outside of tennis, he enjoys reading and playing the alto saxophone in RHS’s Wind Ensemble.
After graduating from RHS, he hopes to play tennis for Vanderbilt University. One day, he would like to become an engineer that builds, designs, and programs robots.
