Cheerleading teams from area high schools, middle schools stand out at national competition in Orlando

Athletes from Centennial, Franklin, Brentwood, Independence and Ravenwood high schools brought home trophies and memories after a weekend in Orlando, Florida for the 2019 UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship.

Centennial High School finished in 2nd place among 14 finalists in the Large Varsity Division after advancing through preliminary, semi-final and final rounds.
Franklin High School finished in fifth place among 14 finalists in the Small Varsity Division after advancing through preliminary, semi-final and final rounds.
Brentwood High School came in at number six out of 13 finalists, and Independence High was number 12.
Ravenwood finished 11th out of 18 finalists in the Medium Varsity Division after becoming one of four teams with scores advancing them directly to finals from the preliminary round.
Woodland Middle School in Brentwood, Poplar Grove Middle School in Franklin and Grassland Middle School teams also made the Small Junior High finals. Woodland finished third, Poplar Grove placed fifth and Grassland came in at number 11.
In the Large Junior High finals, St. Matthew School came in at number 8 and Page Middle School was at 13.
