Congregation’s Easter Weekend offerings will support scholarships in Tanzania

Hope, joy and empowerment will be at the heart of Easter celebrations at The Village United Methodist Church will be directing 100% of the offering from the three Easter worship services to support Business & Community Development students in Mwanza, Tanzania.

The Village plans to sponsor scholarships for Wesley College students. Every $500 raised will send a student to school for an entire year.

The services are, at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 20, and 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on Easter Sunday, April 21. The church meets at Sunset Middle School, 200 Sunset Trail in Nolensville. Nursery care will be available for children six weeks through three years old.

Three all-ages worship services will celebrate of the miracle of Easter, while also offering opportunities to connect with others and provide community development scholarships to the college students.

Eric and Elizabeth Soard, The Village’s missionary partners in Tanzania, support the college. Graduates impact many of the communities where The Village helped drill clean water wells in 2018 through a partnership with Water4. Funds for the wells were donated during worship services last Easter, with more than $75,000 given to drill more than 15 wells.

This year’s offering is an extension of the support already given, equipping and empowering leaders to ignite a movement of ongoing community development.
