The Williamson County Commission in September unanimously approved a resolution to accept a donation of $25,000 from the DUI Court Foundation of Williamson County to help fund Williamson County’s DUI Court, a public safety program that provides recovery treatment for citizens convicted of multiple DUI charges.
Since its founding by General Sessions Court Judge Denise Andre in 2010, more than 90 participants have successfully completed Williamson County’s DUI Court year-long program. Several dozen more are currently enrolled.
These transformed men and women represent countless family members, friends, employers, and neighbors who have benefited.
Scott Tubandt, interim foundation president, reflected: “We’re especially grateful for the generous support of this year’s event underwriters: Platinum Presenting Sponsors — the Beth & Preston Ingram Foundation, Gold Level Sponsors — Your Williamson and SharingChange, and Silver Table Sponsors — Full Service Insurance, Cumberland Heights, and Irvin Dyal & Brown/Auto-Owners Insurance. Finally, JourneyPure and Carl & Connie Haley stepped up as Friends of the Foundation.
“In addition to the financial support, thirty businesses and individuals contributed wonderful cakes and valuable gifts for auction including a golf weekend, beach trip, luxury hotel stay, unlimited annual car wash pass, train trip, dinner and entertainment, and even an axe-throwing party.”
The charity event at the Franklin Theatre kicked off with a professional auctioneer inviting audience members to bid on specialized cakes —each with valuable gift packages included. Then, Grammy-nominated and multi-platinum selling artist John Ford Coley (formerly of England Dan & John Ford Coley) performed an intimate acoustic concert. Known worldwide for such chart-topping hits as “I’d Really Love to See You Tonight,” “Nights Are Forever Without You,” “We’ll Never Have to Say Goodbye Again,” and “Love Is the Answer,” John Ford Coley’s music evoked warm feelings and great memories.
“This event was our most successful charity fundraiser to date,” Scott Pieper, DUI Court Coordinator, said. “We couldn’t be more pleased with the support for this life-changing program that not only makes our roads safer but also transforms the lives of individuals, their families,
and our community.”
