County to receive half-million in firefighting funds from feds

The county applied for, and received, a $472,728 federal grant for firefighting equipment.

The Williamson County Emergency Management Agency filed in 2015 for a FEMA Assistance to Firefighters grant, to pay for new turnout gear and Self-Contained Breathing Aparatus (SCBA).

The program requires applicants to put up 10 percent matching funds, in this case $47,272.28, which was written into the county’s 2016-17 Emergency Management budget.

The Law Enforcement Committee approved releasing the funds on Thursday night, and the County Commission will consider the resolution on October 10.
