Dillard’s hopes to set Guiness World Record for people applying sunscreen

In conjunction with Skin Cancer Awareness Month, Dillard’s is preparing to set a new Guinness World Records™ title.

The Franklin Dillard’s at the CoolSprings Galleria is one of 15 stores across 11 states that where Dillard’s and participating guests will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the most people applying sunscreen at the same time. All participants will receive a free, personalized sample of sunscreen while learning the importance of protecting their skin from sun damage.

According to the American Academy of Dermatology, current estimates are that one in five Americans will develop skin cancer in their lifetime. UV exposure is the most preventable risk factor for all skin cancers. This event will encourage patrons to practice safe sun care when outdoors.

“Dillard’s encourages the entire community to come together to help build awareness of skin cancer, one of the most common and most preventable cancers. In addition to educating, we hope to make history with a Guinness World Records title,” said Dillard’s Vice President of Merchandising, Gary Borofsky.

Everyone is invited to participate at the event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, at Dillard’s in CoolSprings Galleria. The event will be held at Center Court between Dillard’s and California Pizza Kitchen. Visit the event landing page for more details.

Dillard’s, Inc., operates 265 Dillard’s locations and 26 clearance centers spanning 29 states plus an Internet store at www.dillards.com.
