Franklin basketball coach Darrin Joines named Williamson County Athletic Director

After leading a historic season for Franklin High School boys basketball, coach Darrin Joines will be taking on a new position within Williamson County athletics.

He’ll be replacing Jeremy Qualls as the county’s new athletic director, per Leigh Webb, Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Schools for Williamson County Schools.

Qualls will be moving into his new role as CTE Director for WCS on July 1, per Webb.

Joines joined Franklin as its boys basketball coach in 2016 and led the team to a state tournament berth, as well as district and region titles, this past season.

He was named the Home Page’s boys basketball Coach of the Year in March and earned the county’s WillCo Award for Male Sports Coach of the Year last week.

Interim county superintendent Jason Golden announced Qualls’ new transition Thursday at the WillCo Awards.

The move leaves Franklin with two openings for its basketball programs, as former Lady Rebels coach John Wild moved to Summit to become its girls coach in May.
