Hot, humid weather assured for Independence Day, but will it rain?

As the pattern of hot, humid weather and afternoon storms continue, Williamson County residents can hope for similar seasonal weather on the Fourth of July.

Mark Rose, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, said Independence Day weather should be hot and mostly sunny, with a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon.

For the weekend, Friday, Saturday and Sunday have the highest percent chances of actual storms, with a front heading through the area.

Rose also said last Thursday’s storm, with heavy rain and hail, ominous dark clouds, and hundreds of lightning strikes in the area, garnered 2.61 inches of precipitation for the day.

A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 90. Heat index values as high as 99. Southeast wind around 5 mph.

Tonight
A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 71. Southeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm.

Tuesday
A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 91. Heat index values as high as 99. South southeast wind around 5 mph.

Partly cloudy, with a low around 71. East southeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm.

Independence Day
A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny, with a high near 93. Calm wind becoming east northeast around 5 mph in the afternoon.
