Leiper’s Fork resident is heading up Walk to End Alzheimer’s

Laura Musgrave, Leiper’s Fork resident and president of Music City Concierge Association, is serving as the Chair for the 2018 Nashville Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

Musgrave will help the Alzheimer’s Association-Mid South Chapter develop its fundraising initiatives and promote Alzheimer’s awareness.

The Alzheimer’s Association’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s, scheduled this year for Nov. 3 at the Walk of Fame Park in downtown Nashville, is the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support, and research.

“I lost my sister exactly one year ago to Alzheimer’s,” Musgrave said. “She was my best friend, my mentor, and meant the world to me. She was diagnosed at the age of 51 and passed at the early age of 59.

“She left behind 3 children and 2 grandchildren and another grandbaby was on the way when she passed.  I promised her that I would look after her family and do what I could to help others not have to go through what she and her family did.”

Alzheimer’s is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States and it affects over 110,000 individuals in the state of Tennessee alone. Musgrave said she hopes that the Mid State communities will get involved with this event, and that it will take the number five spot in the nation in size and money raised.

The Development Manager of the Nashville Walk to End Alzheimer’s, Melissa LaBonge, is excited for the new possibilities.

“Our mission is to provide care and support to all those affected, and Laura is the perfect person to help us expand our reach,” LaBonge said. “We know with Musgrave’s fun, energetic and tireless efforts, we are going to see amazing results in 2018 and beyond.”

The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. Since 1989, the Alzheimer’s Association mobilized millions of Americans in the Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk®; now the Alzheimer’s Association is continuing to lead the way with Walk to End Alzheimer’s.
