Nolensville Home Page sat down recently with Hunter Battle, the leader of Peoples State Bank located right here in Nolensville.
Please describe what your company does:
Peoples State Bank of Commerce is a true hometown bank. We take pride in our community and enjoy serving local individuals, families and businesses. Whether we are setting up a general savings account or giving pointed advice on acquiring the best mortgage loan possible, we listen to our clients’ financial needs and strive to help them meet their end goal.
For years we have served clients with personal and business checking and savings accounts, retirement accounts, personal loans, mortgage loans, business loans, online banking and more. We are skilled in a variety of services and strive to help clients understand their financial needs, thus allowing them to flourish in our community.
When was your company founded and what is its history?
Headquartered in Nolensville, Tenn., Peoples State Bank of Commerce was founded in June 1921, and we are stronger than ever. Peoples is a three branch bank operating in Nolensville, Grant, Ala. and Ardmore, which straddles the Tennessee/Alabama border. Aside from our local communities, these branches are well positioned to service the Nashville and Huntsville markets.
Peoples State Bank’s primary focus has always been on strengthening the economies of the local communities we serve. Our history and our future is community first.
Who are your customers?
From the Nolensville community to commercial clients in Middle Tennessee and mortgage customers throughout the country, we are constantly building relationships with a wide variety of clients.
Individuals and families are a top priority at Peoples. Though Nolensville is certainly a bedroom community where many residents work in Nashville and reside in Nolensville, individuals still seek a one-on-one relationship with their local banker. We help homeowners secure the right mortgage loan whether it be for that perfect home locally or a second/vacation home anywhere in the country.
Peoples State Bank also works with commercial banking customers, particularly in the areas of construction lending, affordable housing and general business. We work closely with both small and large businesses, constantly seeking growth opportunities and construction projects.
What’s the most important message you want to share with readers about you or your business?
As our mission proudly states, “Be the best community bank at serving our customers.” At Peoples State Bank of Commerce, we are proud of our open door policy. Some people are surprised that our policy is so literal. We remain serious about the importance of open communication and a dynamic, face-to-face environment. There is a constant stream of customers and employees that feel comfortable walking into my office to ask questions or seek a new perspective. Regardless of the inquiry or concern, my door is always open to help and serve my colleagues and clients.
How is your bank different from others?
We have many differentiating factors that set us apart from our competitors. First and foremost, we make sure every customer feels like a private banking customer. Second, we dedicate our time to the community by supporting local interests. We sponsor a local eight-year old baseball team, local Veterans Day events and Fourth of July celebrations. We’ve also supported the Nolensville Farmers Market since its inception. Third, we have made a great effort to connect with the Latino community by providing our staff with Spanish classes in order to better communicate with and serve those individuals. Finally, we are able to think outside of the box for our clients. Many banks have a square box that potential homeowners must fit in to receive a mortgage loan. At Peoples, we are diligent about the process and work closely with our clients to find them an opportunity they may not have elsewhere. We excel in navigating through the various products available to find another alternative for potential homeowners.
What is your call to action (response you want from readers)?
Make me prove it! Come in and see what a community bank really offers. We’ll greet you by name – our people rarely change, and you really can come in and talk to us. We are the true definition of a hometown bank, and we want you to experience that difference.
For the younger, tech savvy customer, we’re here for you, too. We offer mobile and online banking, and you can even apply for a mortgage loan using our website. We imagine at some point you will need one-on-one assistance, and Peoples State Bank will be there for you.
