New Franklin Transit Authority app aims to make it easier to get around town


Franklin Mayor Ken Moore announced at the Williamson, Inc. Transportation Summit on Thursday that the Franklin Transit Authority has released a new app that users can download immediately to help make taking the bus in Franklin a more efficient process.

“This is one more spoke in the wheel of things that are going to solve our problems moving forward,” Moore told the audience attending the fifth annual Transportation Summit at the Franklin Marriott Cool Springs.

“This is a way you can track where the fixed-route buses are in the city of Franklin,” Moore continued. “We’re excited about this additional piece of technology. Sixty percent of the ridership on Franklin Transit are people going to work, so this will help them get there on time and give them more confidence whenever they take transit.”

Moore’s announcement was just part of Thursday’s Transportation Summit, which featured Lone Tree, Colorado, Mayor Jackie Millet as guest speaker. Through her efforts and others’, Lone Tree has become a beacon for transforming public transportation through business partnerships.

The new Franklin Transit app is known as “Follow Frank,” according to a press release sent out simultaneously with the announcement.

“This past year has been an exciting one for the Franklin Transit Authority,” Debbie Henry, Franklin Transit Authority executive director, said in the release. “On the heels of expanding our routes and stops, we have been able to offer special fares for teenagers, offer military discounts and now provide riders with all the information they need about our services in a user-friendly app right on their smartphone.”
