May 8 2024 Maury County tornado

A Rally Hill Road home in Maury County stands heavily damaged at dusk on May 8, 2024, after a tornado struck the area.

Several Williamson County roads are closed due to flooding after communities across Middle Tennessee sustained damage during Wednesday's tornado that struck neighboring Maury County, resulting in one death and at least 12 injuries.

According to the Columbia Daily Herald, the F4 tornado caused about a two-mile wide path of damage when it struck at approximately 5:45 p.m.

The Spring Hill Fire Department crews were among the regional first responders to issue mutual aid following the storm, which also saw widespread flooding and road and school closings on Thursday.

On Thursday morning, the Williamson County Emergency Management Agency reported that several roads were closed due to flooding. The impacted roads are subject to change as conditions change:

  • Horton Highway at Webb Road
  • Trinity Road at Arno Road
  • Floyd Road at Old Hillsboro Road
  • Old Hillsboro Road between Boyd Mill Road and State Route 96
  • Southall Road between Carl Road at Old Hillsboro Road
  • Blazer Road at Boyd Mill Road
  • Bailey Road at Sweeney Hollow Road
  • Del Rio Pike at Cotton Lane
  • Carl Road at Panorama Valley Lane
  • 5th Avenue North and Lewisburg Pike

Public safety agencies continue to ask drivers to exercise caution as they travel in and around areas with storm damage, and never attempt to cross flooded roadways.
