Nine-hour barista class teaches techniques, culture of artisan coffee

A Franklin coffee shop is offering a course for people interested in becoming a certified barista, as in learning how to make espresso-based and other coffee drinks.

Tuition for the nine-hour course, offered by Honest Coffee Roasters located in the Factory at Franklin, is $99.

Honest Coffee Roasters is a small business whose mission is to provide ethically sourced coffee to in-store customers and wholesale clients by maintaining a strong relationship with the coffee providers who make their business possible.

The class will begin on Monday, May 21, and be continued on Wednesday, May 23 and Friday, May 25. Each night the class is held from 6 to 9 p.m., totaling to 9 hours of extensive education for those participants.

The Barista Certification Class will focus on teaching participants about the culture, concept and craft of producing artisan coffee.
