Though he’s on the sideline with the 5-1 Page High School Patriots on Fridays as a defensive line coach, NFL free agent Karl Klug leaned back on his original profession briefly Tuesday.
NFL reporter Adam Caplan shared that Klug worked out for the Atlanta Falcons, though he did not immediately sign with the team.
They wound up signing former Jaguars DL Michael Bennett to a deal as they deal with injuries on the defensive line.
Klug, the former Tennessee Titans player, had stated his desire to retire from the NFL and joined Page’s staff as a defensive positional coach this summer.
The Patriots are set to face White County Friday night with Klug likely to be on the sideline, though Atlanta’s a short distance away from Franklin comparatively to other teams in the NFL and has a gnarly case of injuries on its defense this season.
Teams are known any number of players in for workouts in a season, and not all wind up signing after going through the process.
The Falcons were expected to be Super Bowl contenders this season, but the injury bug and a 1-3 September run has put a damper on their year. Defensive line is a place of need for them, which prompts why they brought Klug and others in for a workout.
