Anne Logan, who chairs the Friends of WCAC board, invited local animal lovers to join in supporting the group’s mission.

“Friends of WCAC is honored to host ‘A Pawsome Gala’ for the benefit of the shelter,” Logan said an announcement of the gala. “Proceeds from this event will be used to fund specialized medical care at the shelter, a pet behaviorist and more. We are especially excited about the county’s plans to build a new shelter in the next two years. Part of the funds raised at ‘A Pawsome Gala’ will be earmarked for use in the new building.”

Ondrea Johnson, shelter director, said that “the support of Friends of WCAC is vital to our shelter — they put the immediate need of our animals first, and are always there to help.”

Johnson added that local businesses can show their support by becoming event sponsors for ‘A Pawsome Gala.’

“A variety of sponsor packages are available,” Johnson said. “And we are looking for auction items as well.”
