Police looking for two young men after armed robbery in stairwell

Franklin Police Department detectives are still investigating an armed robbery that happened Thursday night at a Franklin apartment complex.

At 10:15 p.m., officers answered a call at Heritage Place Apartments, 700 Westminster Dr., after the victim called to report a robbery and a shooting. According to the news release from FPD, the victim had parked and started walking to his apartment when two black males approached and robbed him in the stairwell.

One of the suspects was armed with a handgun and reportedly fired a shot at the victim, who was compliant during the incident. The suspect missed. Police said no one was injured.

The victim’s car keys were among the items stolen. As they were leaving the scene, one of the suspects stole the victim’s vehicle, a white 2001 Chevrolet Cruze with Tennessee license plate U 5502 S.

The other suspect left in a gray or silver PT Cruiser or similar vehicle, authorities said.

Detectives are working with the victim and witnesses on a description of the suspects, one of whom was wearing a ski mask during the robbery.

A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for anyone with information that leads to an arrest Crime Stoppers at (615) 794-4000
