Sean McDevitt, son of Suzanne and John McDevitt, is a junior at Nolensville High School and this week’s Student of the Week.

He is involved in several school extracurricular activities and organizations including: Student Council, HOSA Future Health Professionals, Theatre, National Honors Society, Best Buddies and Mu Alpha Theta. He also plays tennis.

One of McDevitt’s biggest passions is theatre technology.

“This is a way that I can help others while creating art,” he said.

He placed fourth at HOSA State and first at HOSA Regionals. He was also recognized for superior performance in Speech and Debate.

McDevitt said his favorite teacher at NHS is Mrs. Leeper.

“She knows her subject with a command of the concepts and a control of the classroom that is unparalleled,” he said.

One of McDevitt’s teachers said of him, “Sean exudes leadership at school, spending extra time to accomplish endeavors in theatre, academics and Student Council. He shows initiative and demonstrates a high work ethic and character.”

Actor, director and producer, Denzel Washington, is one of his biggest role models and influences.

“He is a role model because he takes all of his accomplishments with the knowledge [that] all is given by God,” McDevitt said.

After graduating from NHS next year, he said he plans to go to college to pursue a career in theatre technology. He said he hopes to always serve through his passion and art.
