Gracie Napier, daughter of KC Hopkins, is a sophomore at Ravenwood High School and this week’s Student of the Week.
She is the youngest stage manager for RHS Theatre as well as a member of the Thespian Society. She also takes time volunteering at Vanderbilt’s Susan Gray School.
One of Napier’s passions is helping others.
“I’m very passionate about helping others whenever and however I can,” she said.
Her favorite class at RHS is Criminal Justice with Mr. Fantuzzi. She said she enjoys it because they “learn about real world situations and how to use what” they learn in everyday life.
One of her biggest role models is her mother, KC.
“She has taught me that working hard is very important and she has always been there to show me right from wrong… I could never have grown up to be who I am without her guidance,” she said.
RHS teacher Brian Kaufman said of Napier, “Gracie is self-driven, motivated and cares for her peers. She is always looking to grow in her craft as a stage manager. She is a sophomore but to me she seems like a junior or senior. [She has] amazing leadership skills and [is] overall one of the hardest working students that we have in the theatre department.”
After graduating from RHS, she plans to attend college to pursue a career track for occupational therapy. She is considering Rhodes College, Washington University and Lee University. One day, she hopes to open her own practice that specializes in helping children with special needs.
