Dhruv Kumar, son of Ashish Kumar and Mohini Gupta, is a junior at Ravenwood High School and this week’s Student of the Week.
He is a member of the Speech and Debate Team at RHS and in the spring, he will compete in tennis and participate in Youth in Government and DECA.
Two of his biggest passions are math and chemistry.
“Chemistry has been a subject I have grown up learning and loving,” Kumar said. “Math has been a strong point for me since middle school, although Pre-calculus is a little difficult.”
When asked to name his favorite class, his answer came as no surprise: AP Chemistry.
“I love the subject… it is very fun to be learning it in detail,” he said.
Kumar listed his cousin-sister as one of his most prominent role models.
“She has faced many struggles in her life but still excels in everything,” he said. “For her, minor setbacks are never an excuse.”
Elise Dirkes-Jacks, the debate coach at RHS said of Kumar, “Dhruv moved to Ravenwood this year and has come with a great attitude ready to be involved. He contributes actively to debate practice and is always ready to work with different team members. We are lucky to have his positive outlook and tireless spirit on the team!”
After graduating from RHS next year, he plans to go to college to pursue a degree in Chemical Engineering.
