Riley Binns, daughter of Todd and Lisa Binns, is a freshman at Ravenwood High School and this week’s Student of the Week.
She is a member of Student Council, Birds of a Feather, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She is also a member of a travel volleyball team. Last year, she was the Student Council President. She is also a straight A student.
She said one of her biggest passions is helping others. “No matter what the situation is, always wearing a smile and pushing through the hard days will brighten everyone’s day.”
Her favorite teacher at RHS is Mrs. Hawken, her Algebra II teacher.
“She makes Algebra II more enjoyable by making the material understandable,” she said.
As far as her favorite class? It’s AP Human Geography. “I love to learn about the relationships between the world and society.”
Mrs. Hawkens said of Binns, “Riley comes to class prepared and willing to work hard. She has the determination to learn and understand the material, and is willing to put the time needed into her studies.”
One of her biggest role models is her mother, Lisa.
“She always supports and does what is best for our family,” she said. “She is the most hardworking person I know.”
As she is only a freshman, Binns said she is currently undecided about her post-high school plans. However, she said no matter what, she wants to have a job where she is helping others and serving around the world.
