Michael Swinehart, son of Vicki and Bill Swinehart, is a senior at Ravenwood High School and this week’s Student of the Week.
He is a member of JROTC and competes in fencing, rifle and drill. He is also a member of the Color Guard and the Robotics Team. He said one of his biggest accomplishments was recently making the rank of captain in JROTC and fencing.
Swinehart said that one of his biggest passions is helping others.
“I am very passionate about assisting anyone in need because I think everyone should be happy and well,” he said.
His favorite teacher at RHS, and one of his role models, is Chief Hays. “He loves to teach his students valuable lessons in class about leadership, survival, and other lifelong skills,” he said. “He is always leading with confidence and overall a great person to be around.”
JROTC instructor Jim Screeton said of Swinehart, “As a vital member of the JROTC Program for the past four years, Michael has demonstrated the qualities and character of a natural leader, continuously challenging himself to improve and serving as a model to fellow cadets. Between JROTC and Michael’s church involvement, he has contributed dozens of hours of service projects to help benefit the community.”
After graduating from RHS, he plans to attend The University of Tennessee- Martin and study wildlife and fisheries. He hopes to one day become a conservationist.
