Kelly Gilfillan, publisher of the Home Page Media Group hyperlocal news publications, has been named Communicator of the Year by the Brentwood Early Risers Toastmasters.

Gilfillan founded the Brentwood Home Page in 2009 with partner Susan Leathers. The company has grown to include Franklin, Spring Hill, Nolensville, Bellevue and Sumner Home Pages, and in October, 2018, was acquired by FW Publishing of Nashville, which publishes the Nashville Scene, nFocus, and the Nashville Post.

Gilfillan will be presented with the Communicator of the Year award on Saturday, July 6, during a breakfast meeting from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Brentwood Pointe III clubhouse where the Toastmasters will install new officers and give awards.

The Brentwood Early Risers Toastmasters (BERT) club, chartered in 1977, is part of Toastmasters International, an organization that helps its members to develop and improve communication and leadership skills.

The group selects a communicator of the year annually, in June. As a group that firmly believes in the importance of effective communication,we appreciate the fact that we have leaders in Williamson County, who use their communication skills to make our community a better place to live.

Some previous winners of the Communicator of the Year award are then-Congressman Marsha Blackburn, Juvenile Court Judge, Sharon Guffee, Former Brentwood Mayor Joe Reagan, former editor of the Williamson Herald, Mindy Tate, and the late Williamson County educator Eugene Wade.

BERT meets on the first and third Saturdays every month from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. at NHC Place on Cool Springs Boulevard.

Toastmasters International has more than 345,000 members in nearly 16,000 clubs in 142 countries.
