Volunteers serve the community on The Village Church’s ‘Sent Sunday’

On Sunday, 500 people volunteered to help with multiple projects in or near South Nashville as part of The Village Church’s Sent Sunday, according to a release.

In Nolensville, Cane Ridge, Antioch, Lenox Village, more than 32 projects received help from neighborhood volunteers — totally more than $30,000 worth of work.

  • 6 local schools received painting, construction, cleaning, decorating and landscaping work

  • 50,000 meals were packed and donated through Meals of Hope to Second Harvest Food Bank and Nolensville Food Pantry

  • 12 local schools received materials and supplies to support teachers and students

  • 1,000 teacher appreciation gifts were created to say thank you and to remind area teachers that they are loved

  • 150-plus bags were assembled for students of Norman Binkley Elementary, Shayne Elementary and Oliver Middle so they can have access to food over upcoming weekends

  • 100 blessing bags were made for distribution to members of the local homeless population

  •  40 birthday boxes were assembled for distribution through food pantries so that everyone can celebrate a birthday with a cake and party
